Our Friendship Burns Bright
(by Sandra Hooper)
Our friendship burns bright even
though I might not be able to solve
your life's problems, calm your
fears, cease all your doubts, and
stop your tears.
Our friendship burns bright even
when I can't keep your heart from
breaking or take away your
darkest lonely moments.
Our friendship burns bright even
when I can't keep your feet from stumbling
or put back the shattered pieces
of broken promises that will sometimes
destroy your confidence.
Our friendship burns bright even
though your
silence speaks loudly and I must
wait patiently.

You may ask, "Well, how
does our friendship burn
bright when you can't do these
things for me?"
Our friendship burns bright
because I know a Person
who can do all those things. His
name is Jesus.
Though I may not be able to
solve your life's problems, calm your fears, make all
your doubts cease, or stop your
tears, I can be there for you, to listen
and gently wipe away your tears.
Though I can't mend your broken
heart, I can help
you pick up the pieces and hold
them with you in
prayer.
And though I can't take
away your darkest lonely moments, I can tell you
I am here for you and I care.
And though I can't keep
your feet from stumbling or restore your confidence,
I can offer you words of
encouragement, bear your burden, and help you walk
in faith once again.
And though your silence may make
me wonder, I give you time to
reflect and wait patiently for
you to return.

Our friendship burns
bright because He gave us
one another as friends, who were
once strangers to each other.
Our friendship burns
bright because He knew
we needed someone who is kind
and would not hesitate
to lend a helping hand, offer a
listening ear, or give a warm embrace.
Our friendship burns bright
because we know we are not perfect
and will fail each other at
times, yet ever knowing forgiveness
is always an open door, never closed.
Our friendship burns bright
because God knew we would need
someone to share our happy days,
our struggles,
our victories, and our precious moments.
Our friendship burns bright
because God knew we could not touch or share the joys
and sorrows deep within the soul
of our friends, yet blesses friendships
where eyes and hearts meet, to
lead and guide each other
to the source of all comfort,
joy, and peace.
Jesus.....who abides within you and me.
Prov. 17:17
"A friend loveth at all times..."
"A friend hears the song in my heart and sings it to me when my memory fails."
